Too Many Subscriptions

Spent a good portion of the day going through old magazines and trying to decide which ones to keep and which to get rid of. Somehow I seem to have collected more magazines than Barnes & Noble have on their magazine racks! I think it is one of those things that you have to stay on top of otherwise it can get way out of hand, but unfortunately I am not very good at doing that. I have the same problem with catalogs too. I did manage to part with a pretty good sized stack to take out to the recycling bin, after I tore out any decorating ideas, recipes, travel ideas, how-to articles, gardening tips, colors that inspire me, etc. etc. Okay, now I have created another task for myself - to find a way to organize the torn out pages! Alas, that will have to wait for another day.

Took a break from my magazine sorting project to go to Target to get cat food for our two kitties. Why is it everytime I go in that store to buy just ONE item, I come out with at least FOUR bags of merchandise? Anyway, I found these in the Dollar Spot:

They are actually recipe box dividers, but the bright colors made me think they would make a fun little mini scrapbook. Then for some reason I ended up in the card and stationary aisle and found these monogram note cards that I couldn't resist:

They come with clear epoxy circles to stick on top of the monogram to create a 3-D embellisment look. Cool!

Book of Dreams - Week One

I spent the day in my studio working on art pieces. Love when I am able to do that. It definitely is my favorite way to spend a day. Time usually flies by quickly that way and then suddenly I have to come back to reality and throw together something for the family to eat for dinner. Tonight it will be leftover chicken pesto. Sounds fancy and difficult....believe me it is not! I worked on my Book of Dreams entry for week one:

I really had fun creating these pages and was able to include some embellishments that had been lying around unused for quite some time. This first week's assignment from ArtsyMama was to design a pocket page. My page has three pockets which hold journaling tags. Follow Your Heart is a motto of mine and so this page is titled, I Followed My Heart. Each tag features a different area of my artistic life where I have followed, or plan to follow, my heart. These areas are Dream, Passion, and Hope. I added my journaling to the back of each tag to further describe these areas. Here is a close-up of both the front and back of the tags:

Book of Dreams Project

Gather all your art supplies! I just discovered a new project on ArtsyMama's blog. It's an altered book inspired by Citrus Faire's Book of Dreams. You simply must take a look at this book because it is absolutely magical. Each week ArtsyMama will post an assignment on her blog to keep us all on track. You can check back here to see my completed pages. Sounds like fun and I can't wait to get started!

A New Adventure

Wow! I just set up this blog. I have to say it is a bit scary. But at the same time it is exciting. I am not sure how all of this works or what it will look like, but the best way to find out is to jump right in feet first. Right? I think I may have to do some redesigning to get it to look the way I would like...can I do that???? Who knows! This is a new adventure for me and I am looking forward to seeing where it will take me!
