Christmas Crafting

My grandson Jase and I worked on a little art project today 😊. I bought this wood Christmas scene, complete with markers, for a dollar at JoAnn's the other day. Grandma colored some of it and Jase did the rest.

Dinner Tonight

All the Chrismas lights and candles are lit and I'm having a big old plate full of comfort for dinner tonight. Not picture - a glass of white Zinfandel

Sparkley Deer

Since deer motifs seem to be all the rage these days, I thought I'd add one to my wall for Christmas. I got the sparkley deer head at a store called At Home. It came in silver, gold, and a mossy color too. The silver star and snowflake ornaments are from Crate and Barrel. The frame is from Hobby Lobby.

Dinner Time

Enjoying some leftovers for dinner today. I'm trying to eat more vegetables.

First snow.

I don't think I'm ready for this yet. We've had snow flurries in the morning a couple of times, but this is the first time the snow has accumulated and stuck.

Wow!

Saw this amazing French bottle rack chandelier at Arhaus today. There is actually a smaller chandelier in the middle of the French bottle rack.

Good morning Monday!

What a Glorious Morning

This is the view from my living room window this Sunday morning. Fall and Spring are my favorite times of the year. I think that is because God's hand is most visible at those times of the year for me. The vibrant colors that grace the leaves on the trees are amazing at this time of the year. The crisp air, apple cider, fall holidays, pumpkins and pumpkin spice lattes, my wedding day, the birth of our daughter - I could go on and on. I like these days to last as long as possible because once they are gone, the ice, snow and frigid temperatures will be right behind them.

Good Morning!

It's 6:42 am and still dark outside! Only one more week till Daylight Savings time. Right now it's dark when I leave in the morning and dark when I come home. I'm cozied up on the couch drinking coffee from my new favorite mug from Target. Enjoy the weekend - it looks like it's going to be a nice one in my neck of the woods.

A Truckload of Pumpkins

Here is my version of a truckload of pumpkins as inspired by The Farm Chicks. My vintage toy truck makes a perfect candy dish and I love the combination of aqua and orange together.

Love those cheeks!

Eloise Wilkin is one of my favorite children's book illustrators. Those cheeks and mouths get me every time. My grandson, Jase has an Eloise Wilkin face as you can see in the picture below. I just love those chubby little cheeks of his!

Remembering

Remembering 9/11 thirteen years ago today. I watched the coverage this morning and saw those planes flying into the Twin Towers and it brought back all those memories from 2001. A few people don't like that these images are replayed every year, but I think it is important to do so in order to keep that memory alive. Everyone remembers where they were on that fateful day. I was at home getting ready for work and had the TV on to watch the news. So I saw those planes going into the buildings and was horrified. A little while later, I went to work at the shop I used to work at. When I got there I found out that my co-worker's husband was in Manhattan on business that morning, so she was particularly frantic. We had a television in the back of the store and she was glued to it trying to get any information that she could, since she couldn't reach her husband because the cell phone lines were jammed. The images were frightening and horrific. I distinctly remember her shouting from the back of the store that one of the towers had collapsed. Customers were coming into the shop, not necessarily to buy anything, but to be with people and share what was going on. We didn't get much work done that day, and I was grateful to not be home alone during this time. We did a lot of crying and hugging at work that day with co-workers and customers. We did a lot of speculating trying to figure out who would do this. It was an unforgettable day, and one that I hope we never have to experience again.
