Some people may faint to know I am working on this . . .
. . . you know who you are.

I can't believe I am saying this, but it's a bit chilly here. Fall has definitely arrived in the midwest. My favorite seasons are spring and fall (Yes, we have 4 different and distinct seasons here in my neck of the woods!) because of the moderate temperatures. I am definitely not a hot weather loving kind of girl! We're down to the 60's here this whole week. But it's not officially Indian Summer because we haven't had a freeze yet. The air is crisp and cool, but good old Mr. Sunshine is showing his face so that helps take some of the chill out of the air.

On this last day of summer (sigh) I thought I would share some photos of the rose garden at the Chicago Botanic Garden which I took during a visit there this past weekend. I was surprised to see how many blossoms were left.

I love how my new crop of flat leaf parsley is growing. The first batch, shown here with other herbs, didn't make it earlier this year so I'm giving it a second try. I hope I can keep this batch alive!
Yesterday I had a nice long telephone chat with a long time friend from my college days. So much has happened in both of our families this summer that it was nice to finally have time to catch up. We're planning to continue our conversation when we meet for breakfast later in the month.
