Winter Wishes - My Box & Book Cover

BLOGGING ALERT - You may want to pour yourself a cup of tea or your favorite beverage of choice, because this is a FOUR PART post with lots of pictures!

Several months ago, I posted some sneak peeks about one of the Round Robins I was participating in with two other fun and talented gals, Dawn (Artist Reborne) and Melissa (Little Melfie's World). Dawn had the idea of each of us creating a book and box set based on the theme of Winter Wishes. She had been inspired by the gorgeous Spring Secrets round robin posted about here. So we all went to work creating our books and boxes before sending them off to the next artist to work on. Above is the cover my box and below is a close up of the side view.
My book started out as a blank 6x6 binder from Bo Bunny which I embellished in cool aqua blue tones. I nestled the book inside the box in a bed of aqua tulle. I used 140 lb watercolor paper as the base for my pages instead of the thicker chipboard pages that are included with the binder.
On the binding I wrapped filmy aqua gingham ribbon embellished with "winter" and "wish" charms, glass beads, and a metal snowflake tag.
I love it when a finished book looks chunky like this when it's finished.

On the inside box cover, I attached a glassine envelope filled with little goodies and a crepe paper rosette along with some glitter for good measure.

The snow scene on this page is actually the cover from some Winter Wonderland vintage sheet music I found in my grandmother's piano bench. I copied it and altered the colors a bit. The house and some of the skater's coats were originally red, but I digitally changed them to pink to fit in with the color scheme I wanted to use.

Winter Wishes - Dawn's Pages

All of the beautiful pages in this post are created by Dawn Rice of Artist Reborne for my Winter Wishes Round Robin Book. You can see more of all 3 books and round robin pages at our Winter Wishes Flickr site here. We all will be uploading our pics to our blogs and the Flickr site in the next few days. I also have pictures of the pages from my book, along with close-up details, here. I had so much fun working on this round robin with Mel and Dawn. They both are such amazingly talented ladies to work with. Thanks you both so much for creating such a beautiful keepsake. It truly was a blast!

This and That

I just signed up for an exciting new event that Teresa McFayden is offering called 12 Days of Comfort and Joy. Teresa is going to have a project a day, along with some additional goodies, on a special website which will run from December 1st to December 12th. There's still time to sign up and you can read more about it here.

Last year I made the advent calendar pictured above after reading a tutorial on Teresa's blog. I noticed that she just posted an updated version of her tutorial, complete with pictures of a lovely blue calendar. Be sure to check out this popular project here.

Winter Wishes

Just finishing up on the first part of a round-robin I am doing with Dawn and Mel called Winter Wishes. (Thanks to Dawn for organizing it!) We each are making a book as well as a keepsake box for the album to fit into. We have been busy bees working on the pages in our own books and now it is time to send it on to the next person so they can add their own touches to the books. I know you are saying to yourself, why are these ladies working on a winter wish book in July? I can explain - In order for the books to make the rounds to each other's homes and to give us enough time to work on the pages at a leisurely pace so we can have our books returned back to us in November, Dawn suggested the July start day - smart girl because it's no fun to work on something like this if you have to rush and be all stressed out about it. I put enough stress on myself as it is without having to deal with strict time constraints too. As it is, I already am having doubts about my book and pages feeling as though I should add something more or I should have done something different. I always do that. I am happy as a lark during the creating part, but then when I finish and let it sit for a few days, that is when my self-doubt about these things sets in. Of course checking out the other gals gorgeous "sneek peeks" of their pages posted on Flickr is enough to make anyone have second thoughts about their own work!
