Paper Trees

There's still lots of crafting going on around here. I've hardly made a thing all year, but I seem to be making up for lost time during this past month. I found a tutorial for making these cute trees at Sweet Paul.
These stacked book page Christmas trees are one of those projects that can be done while watching television at night. I threaded/stacked the squares of book pages on a bamboo skewer that was attached to a discarded wine cork for the trunk. And then the cork was hot glued into a votive holder to create the tree stand.
As a final step I sprayed the entire tree with a light coat of spray glitter and then added a paper star at the top which I embellished with glitter glue. The round tree is made the same way but instead of cutting out squares from the book pages I cut out circles and crumpled them up a little before threading them on the skewer. If you want to make some trees for yourself, you can find the complete Sweet Paul tutorial here.

Fall Color

I was up at the cottage last week and the leaves had started to do their magic and turn the most beautiful colors. I took these photos with my phone so they aren't the best. (Someone was bad and left their camera at home.) But this gives you the general idea of what it looked like up there.
And when I took these the trees weren't even at their peak yet. They probably are at about their best this weekend. (When I am NOT up there of course!) I just love living in the midwest where we can experience all four seasons. One is more glorious than the next, but I must admit that autumn is probably my most favorite. Until spring comes again, that is!

Instagram Wednesday

The crabapple trees in the yard are my favorite when they are covered in their delicate flowers. I have both pink and white varieties and they usually bloom like clockwork right around Mother's Day. All the flowering plants are blooming a whole month early this year due to the warm temperatures we had last month. I really can't remember a time when the flowers and trees were more beautiful than they are this year.

Beautiful Inspiration

A friend sent these photos to me. These beautiful sculptures created by Bruno Torfs I am told are nestled amongst a rainforest setting in the village of Maryville in Australia. They are beautiful, whimsical and fascinating and the attention to detail is amazing!
What a talented artist . . . enjoy and be inspired!
